Rockin' Rose & Lace Necklace

I often pick up things in my travels that I don't exactly know what I'm going to do with when I buy it. One of those things was a substantial bolt of vintage lace I found in the dark depths of a warehouse, neatly wrapped inside an awesome steamer trunk. It was really old and there was a lot of it. But I had no idea what it would be good for. I stored it away in one of my many, many vintage trunks and forgot about it. I hadn't seen that lace for a long time when I spied it while making my Halloween costume last year. The minute I saw it I knew just the combination of shapes, colors and textures that I wanted to use...

The end result is this rose necklace! I have a passion for costuming, so of course textiles are going to pop up in my designs now and then. I am also obsessed with roses this season, so with that as the focal point, I threw in some of my other current fancies: Chains and spikes, in this representation a thorn, dangling at the end of the extender chain. This necklace also features vintage glass pearls for a little touch of the classic.


My favourite thing of all has to be the multi-use feature of this necklace. The rose turns into a brooch, and the necklace itself can be worn with out it. I love making multi-functional pieces!

Purple Rose Bud Super Charm

This is what I like to call a Super Charm....

It is a cluster of charms containing a color/accent charm and a subject charm to make a complete look. Super charms always have a charm clasp, so you can mix and match, and experiment with different chains, such as a ball chain for an edgier look. (This is a delicate vintage brass chain pictured. Very classic...)

Also, these make great earrings- if you collect two and pick up our interchangeable charm holder earrings. Pick up a necklace chain and a bracelet chain at the VR Charm School and you have three different kinds of looks from the same Super Charm!

Did I mention this is a new color? PURPLE Real Baby Roses! This look also has purple vintage crystals, vintage glass pearls, and a vintage Lucite twig, which I can't get enough of...

Wings Necklace

Another new design!

I was sitting watching the first snowfall of the season. It is lovely, until you have to drive in it. This led my thoughts inevitably to Spring... SS10, actually. So I decided to keep the theme as an homage to Springtime thoughts- in the dead of winter...

The Rose Bud Necklace

I have always had an obsession with preserving the beauty in nature, a rose in particular, and making it into jewelry. After years of exploration, I'd like to introduce The Rose Bud Necklace. It is nothing other than nature's gem. Finally, after 5 years of experimentation, I've made some VerdeRocks!

Each one is as unique as only a rose can be. These rose buds feature a vintage brass rose "hip" topped by a black Swarovski Crystal. In this particular piece, I combined a delicate vintage ribbon with a equally dainty vintage brass chain.
